Last Chance Authorizations
Please hearken and pay heed to the words of Their Excellencies, Chevalier
Marc d'Aubigny and Maitresse Alianor atte Red Swanne, Baron et Baronne of
the most glorious Barony of the Sacred Stone.
Good gentles, with the arrival of the Summer Solstice, the world is
a-flutter with life. The flowers burst forth with washes of color and
fragrance; the birds share with us their song, and be it on branch, stem or
root, the fruit of nature's bounty ripen almost before our very eyes. At
such a time as this, it is hard to imagine the unrest north of Atlantia's
borders.
Our beloved Imperator and Imperatrix, Valharic and Arielle, have called
forth all of Atlantia to answer the petition of Our Midrealm cousins. Soon
the fighting might of Atlantia's army, and those of us whom support them,
will be packing wagon, cart and horse to head northward to the lands of
Æthelmearc, and the Great Pennsic War.
To that end We, Marc and Alianor, have requested Our Warlord, Lord Jonathan
Blackbow, to gather the willing and able bodied of Sacred Stone and all of
other parts of the Kingdom who may wish to attend, to join and sharpen
skills, test any preparations that may be yet untried, and draw together
support to aid our Kingdom's Rulers in keeping this threat from spilling
over the border into the rich lands of Atlantia. This will be the last
chance to authorize before war, and the gracious Kingdom MoL has offered
services to insure that all paperwork is done in accordance with the
necessary laws for martial participation at Pennsic.
This day is an open invitation to all, not just those who may wield a weapon
and plan to take the field at Pennsic. For those who may not be joining the
migration north, we hope that you will come out to avail us of your company,
for you will be sorely missed. To those who may have never been on
campaign, we invite and encourage you to join us as well. Come listen to
the stories, make inquiries, seek advice or perhaps just encouragement from
the many individuals who treat the horns and drums of war as a call home, as
much as a call to arms.
This will be the time for seasoned veteran and green recruit to knock the
rust off of the armor, test out the new sword or make sure that their
authorizations are up-to-date, while many of us may be putting the finishing
touches on clothing, shows of heraldry, or any other number of projects. If
anyone would be interested in putting together a sewing workshop, and would
have need of electricity, please let me know as soon as possible. The
camping area is primitive (i.e. no water or electricity, but with a shower
house near by) but we could reserve one of the picnic pavilions, so that
those who may wish to sew in earnest would have the facilities to do so.
The only quandary being that the pavilion is not in the near vicinity of the
camp site. To have this happen, however, I would need to know soon so that
a deposit may be made, no later than July 6th.
While this may have all the air of an official event, we have requested that
this be a garb optional affair (i.e. garb or modern clothes by choice), to
ease those who may have much activity to do and where such garments may
hinder their efforts. Also, there will be no food supplied, but we hope
that all will bring spit, grill, pot or basket and gather with us in the
relaxed companionship of good friends and good people.
The date is the weekend of July 14th. The camping area has been reserved
from Saturday morning until 2pm on Sunday (July 15th). The managers have
asked that we not use pavilions on the actual field area, but modern day
shades are fine (less damage to the ground than our stakes). If you would
like to stay on site, but do not wish to bring your pavilion at all, please
do so.
The location for the day's happenings is
5920 Hagan-Stone Park (Hindscroft has held Wastelands, as well as two other
events that I am aware of, in this location)
Pleasant Garden, NC 27313
Phone:(336) 674-0472
And we will be in Group Camping area #1
It is Roughly 10 miles outside of Greensboro, on hwy 421 south, so dining
facilities are within close driving distance, for those so inclined. Upon
entering the park, please keep an eye for signs to point the way to the
proper location of the facilities we will be using. .
The charge for camping is $2 per person per night.
