Many thanks to Mistress Anne of Carthew who has been
helping me out with a lot of layout stuff.

Important points about this year’s second issue:

I've been very relaxed about deadlines for article
submissions. Now that we're electronic we have the
ability to publish an issue any time there's several
articles. However many authors feel better about a
specific deadline. Now that I have my first couple of
issues down and know how much time layout etc takes I
can set deadlines better.

The deadline for the second issue of the Oak for 2007
will be the last weekend in August. This should give
folks time to work on articles and polish things up
after Pennsic. It should also give me more than
enough time for editing etc. If I have enough
articles submitted before that we may even have a
third issue this year. If you want some help with
brainstorming please feel free to send me drafts and
I'll send you as much feedback as I can!!

My last letter to the Acorn had several points of
information that should help you get published,
including an example of proper referencing. However I
do not require a specific article format. What I
require is the same proper referencing that all
publications require. One standard format for all
articles actually gets a little tedious after a while
so please go with what works for you.

The Oak still needs filler art and cover art. Being
electronic doesn't mean we have to go away from art.
If you're interested in submitting art please write
me. We are electronic so art can now be color but
tons of people like to print their own copy of the PDF
file as well. You may want to consider that when
submitting artwork.

Thanks for all the patience and efforts from everyone!
I've had a huge learning curve and in some cases I
think I'm still learning.

Let’s escape the heat by heading to air conditioned
libraries for more research! <grin>
