May I suggest you contact Duchess Kyneburgh? She had several loaner
crossbows at pennsic last year and may be able to steer you in the right
direction. That's how I got mine.

but...Pardon my brief use of bandwidth but I am looking to purchase a used 
crossbow from someone.  I am trying my hand at combat archery but am not 
sure if this is what I want to do when I grow up, so I am hoping to buy a 
used crossbow from someone who is trying to purge their extra gear.  If
