Actually...

Back around 1980 freon tank helms were banned. At the
time, I'd recently graduated from "broke collage student"
to "underpaid entry-level working stiff" and even the cost
of a low-end helm was pretty high for my budget. Well, I
bit the bullet and bought a helm, but before I could get
it padded the rules were changed to narrow the allowable
eye slot width, rendering my brand new helm unusable.

I eventually re-authorized in October of 2005 (and promptly
suffered an attack of Acute, Chronic Real Life and haven't
armored up since. Sigh, Real Soon Now... <;-)

As for dealing with the Collage of Heralds, I decided in
1999 to register a name change (from "Landon of Wulfkeep"
to a documentable form). Though I had the help of a quite
experienced herald who, as a friend, knew exactly what I
wanted, we tripped up on a bit of Old Norse grammar. When
it was "corrected" higher up the chain, it was corrected
_exactly_ wrong! Not blaming anybody -- I got "what I
asked for, not what I wanted" -- and we did get it fixed,
but it was still frustrating and time consuming.

With that episode still in mind, the rejection of my new
device left me feeling that I'd spent my time and fees
only to get myself in the middle of a stylistic micturating
match between a couple of heralds.

So no, I don't think I'm "prejudice(d) against heralds".
Quite simply, I tried to play your game, found the cost,
in time and frustration, to outweigh the benefit, and
decided not to play any more.

If I have given offence, it was truly not my intent and I
beg you to please accept my apology.
