Lately, I have been struggling to make ends meet. A friend is letting me stay with him, but his apartment is not pet-friendly, and I have until Saturday to find somewhere for her to stay. Is there anyone out there willing to give my cat, Sybil, a temporary place to live through the end of this month?
Sybil is a 2 year-old Bengal cat, very well behaved. She is leash-trained, a neat freak (constantly grooming herself, and she doesn't make a mess around her food dish). She is good with kids and other (nice!) cats. She is also okay with small dogs, and some medium-size dogs. She is an extremely social cat, and will follow people around the house. Of late, she has learned that toddlers aren't such a bad thing, when she was staying with a friend in Virginia Beach who has a two year-old. Sybil and the two year-old became best of friends. Sybil loves children, but won't sleep in a crib (she doesn't like 'baby' smell). She may sleep with a child if she's allowed.
I think this would be a good opportunity for a family who wants to try having a cat before commiting to one of their own. It'd be great for a family who had a 4-6 year-old who's been begging for a cat, as the child could prove him/herself capable or incapable of caring for a pet, before the family goes out and gets one.
Not to say that all the advantages are for the family who takes Sybil in. If Sybil gets taken in by a family, I will have the chance to get a job, save up money, and get an apartment of my own that is pet-friendly, where Sybil can rejoin me. My cat is very precious to me; she is my companion, and I hope to train her to be a therapy cat (to go to hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices to visit people to cheer them up), as well.
Sybil will come with a self-cleaning litter box (or a regular one if you prefer), litter, half a bag of her cat food (we used the other half in three weeks...it's a BIG bag), some canned food to use as a treat, three dishes (one food dish, one water dish, one extra in case one gets dirty and you don't want to deal with it at the moment), toys, a scratching post, a hanging scratching pad, a cat bed (basket with sheepskin that she adores), a pet carrier to hold everything in, her harness and two leashes (one leather, one nylon...the leather one I use primarily at events), catnip that she -loves-, and her clothes (jacket for when it's cold, raincoat, t-shirt for when it's mildly cold, ballerina dress just for fun).
Please, if anyone can give Sybil a temporary home, contact me off-list by e-mail or on my cell phone at (919) 724-5999.
