Unto All Scribes, Illuminators and Want-to-Bees:
Greetings and Salutation...At Storvik's Novice Tourney there will be two scribal competitions:
1. A scroll blank contest for promissories - specifically in a Greek or Roman style for this reign. Line drawings for posting on the web for others to color as well as colored designs. If there are enough, we will divide into both a Novice and an Advanced category.
2. For all those who can bring or send blanks of any kind, there will be a prize for the best of each variety. There will also be a prize for the scriptorium that produces the most...
Remember Shark's Teeth for Pennsic! Typically at least 15 get gived out at the War. This is to be sponsered by Graidhne.
If you want to put the text in, please leave plenty of room for the recipients name and the date.
As was stated on the scribes list:
"As far as what type of awards We hand out most frequently...Coral branches, Opals, Awards of Arms, King's Missiliers and Fountains are
probably the most common. Sea Urchins, Hippocampus, Silver Nautilus, Sharks Tooth, Silvery Osprey and Sea Dragons are slightly more common than Krakens, Pearls, Golden Dolphins, Sea Stags and Yew Bows. However, We need each of these, so any you do will definitely be used," stated by Her Majesty.
Make blank illuminated scrolls. No words. Make them simple, elegant and often! One of the reasons we have such a big backlog is because we are "artists" and so darn finicky about our art. Whatever you do, no matter how simple will be appreciated.. extremely, extremely appreciated! And it gives the battle scribes a nice blank canvas for whatever may come up last minute. It would also make the blanks trasferable to the next reign since once the Royal's names are put on a scroll blank, it then has an expiration date. If you are nervous about Kingdom scroll making... make AoAs....lots and lots of AoAs. Those are usually the first scroll a person ever receives. (Very well put by Ysabella)
Thank you in advance for I know that this group does wonderful work and we hope to see lots of it at the event.
Any questions or comments, please let me know.
Samara
