There has been some good discussion here on
this topic, and some good suggestions.
One of the best recommendations, IMHO, was
to have a site representative walk through the area as
we're leaving. This is great, but I suspect that it may be
difficult to arrange in many cases.
Another measure is easily arranged, however.
At Coronation, I had the privilege of supporting the culinary
efforts of Lady Magdalena, and someone on the team
(possibly Lady Yenyega) had the bright idea of taking a
number of pictures of the kitchen area as it was when we
arrived. We used those pictures as a guide in restoring the
kitchen after two feasts and miscellaneous meals had been
prepared in it. Our intent was merely to arrange racks and
pans where they had been originally, but there are larger
uses for the idea.
Seems to me that a series of before and after pictures
of an entire site would be a great idea for any event where we
aren't sure that we can get a post-event inspection. After all,
disk space is cheap!
