Let all knights, barons, lords, squires and men at arms of the baronies of Black Diamond, Bright Hills, Caer Mear, Dun Carraig, Hawkwood and Hidden Mountain, Highland Foorde, Lochmere and Marinus, Nottinghill Coill and Sacred Stone, Stierbach, Storvik, Tir-y-Don and also Windmasters Hill, and all cantons, shires, colleges, and border-marches that are in this most noble kingdom of Atlantia and all other Known World kingdoms, who are friends of our monarchs, Ragnarr and Anneke, know that on the 24th of February, in the Barony of Ponte Alto, there will be a very great festival of arms and a very noble tourney with weapons of measure and tourney swords, in appropriate armor, with crests, coats of arms of the noble tourneyers, as is the ancient custom. The passages of arms in both armoured and civilian style combats shall include personal challenges of matched weapons, over a barrier or without as it pleases the combatants. Also there shall be a grand melee, consisting of two
 teams in full harnesses.

The Tournament of Love and Beauty:
Following the ideals set forth by King Rene in his Book of the Tournament, the Tournament of Love and Beauty is a Passage of Arms with the principal combat set in four fields, for both the civilian and armoured combat. Each field will have specific themes and will be designated by one of four shields; Gules, Sable, Argent, and Azure. In keeping with the tradition of Rene’s tournaments the gallery shall be on hand to view the chivalric deeds of the combatants and will award them favors based upon chivalric virtues; Courage, Justice, Mercy, Generosity, Faith, Nobility, Hope, Endurance, Humility, and Prowess.
During the course of the day an area will be set up for fighters to engage in pickups or mini tourneys while the main tournaments are being held.

  Martial Tournaments:
The first tournament will be the Princess of Love and Beauty Tournament at 11am. Rapier fighters will process and begin with an initial challenge in. After that fighters may make challenges and pair up at the agreed upon fields. During this time armoured fighters will be able to engage in pick-ups in another arena.

Following the first tournament there will be a short “playing of the prize” style demonstration of the new combat form of Cut & Thrust.

The second tournament will be the Queen of Love and Beauty Tournament at 2pm. Armoured fighters will process and begin with an initial challenge in. After that fighters may make challenges and pair up at the agreed upon fields. During this time, rapier fighters will be able to engage in pick-ups in another arena.
A special melee at the barrier will be held at the end of the Queen of Love and Beauty Tournament, consisting of two teams lead by a captain.

  Fields of Combat.
  For armoured combat:
The Field of Azure: fights at the barrier.
The Field of Gules: fights of pole weapons, great weapons, and half swords. *
The Field of Sable: fights of matched weapons, sword and buckler, axes, and daggers.
The Field of Argent: fights of open form, including sword and weapon fights.

  For civilian combat:
The Field of Azure: fights at the barrier, with single sword.
The Field of Gules: fights of case of swords.
The Field of Sable: fights of sword and offhand dagger or buckler.
The Field of Argent: fights of open form.

  Rules of engagement:
All combatants may choose from the following rules of engagement.
The standard SCA blow recognition rules, as laid out in the rules of the lists.
Combat ‘a plaisance’ whereby combatants make an exchange of between three (3) and five (5) stout blows.
Combat ‘a outrance’ whereby a combatant who is driven from the list, falls to the ground, or drops their weapon will have lost.

*Special note: Two matched half swords of five feet in length will be provided. These weapons shall be treated under the rules of great weapons. They will not have any edging along the “blade” and the pommel, tip, and quillions will be padded for the use of striking.

It is also strongly encouraged that all fighters, who are authorized in both the rapier and armoured forms, compete in both the Princess and the Queen tournaments to show the gallery the true nature of skilled men at arms.
