[MR] Map of Atlantia

 How wonderful it would be, if someone would craft a period-style map like the ones Duke Merewald used to craft of the Known World. 
 
One interesting and entirely appropriate quirk of his maps is that they are oriented (perhaps I should say occidented) with west up. This is in accord with the idea that "life as we know it" started in the West. Early maps were oriented to the east (which is why we say "oriented") or toward Jerusalem.  the idea of having north be up is, I think, a feature of the acceptance of the concept of a spherical earth.
 
Duke Merewald's maps were informative and they were also works of art. I have a couple.

The best one that I know of is on the Spiaggia Leventina site, it is a
little bit old (like Hawkwood is now a Barony not a Shire) but is a good
starting point.
