I wonder if the fighters are interesting in sponsoring non-fighters to learn
about arts martial?

Here is one fighter who would.

I don't think it's necessary for all to learn HOW to fight, necessarily, but
it would be of worth, as Her Garace wrote, for more non-fighters to learn
ABOUT fighting, both in a historical context and how it is done in the SCA.

I might invite someone to done armour just to get the feel of what it's like
to wear it, perhaps swing a couple of moderate blows at them so they have
some sense of that, and have them swing a couple at me as well. Sauce for the
goose, as they say.

I would explain the appearance and function of different types of armour as
well, perhaps parade several fighters before them in different arraays to
give some idea of the diversity of ways in which we guard ourselves from harm.

I would explain at some length the different forms of tourneys, the way in
which one advances and how one might win. And do the same for the different
kinds of melées and battles as well.

All this, of course, is mostly talk. Anyone who knows me knows I can do
THAT! But if someone were willing to take a closer look at the fighter's world,
I would invite them to attach themselves to a fighter for a short span of
time, even the duration of one event, to accompany and perhaps assist the
fighter in what they do in the course of a fighting event. This may prove an
eye-opener for some.

And it would be the honour and pleasure of

Your servant
Donal
