[MR] In Lieu of a Champion

I recall that not too long ago I heard a Barony identify a position with which it recognizes a person's accomplishments or ability in A&S without calling that person a "champion."  
 
Given the nature of the Arts and Sciences, it seemed to me at the time very fitting; but given the nature of my memory, I cannot recall either which Barony it was or what they called the person!
 
Would someone who recognizes that to which I refer, please enlighten me about those facts?
