Whatever could possess someone to come out into the cold just to
sing? Listen close, my friend, tis the sound of Bright Hills bards and
musicians tuning up for our annual Baronial Birthday gathering. Come, join
us as we have some fun indulging in a Feast of Fools day!
On the 9th of February, in the Barony of Bright Hills, we shall hold our
Baronial Birthday event "Feast of Fools". Among the activities of the day
There shall be chosen a King and Queen of Misrule and they shall hold a
Court to amaze and amuse us. A feast that will begin with
dessert and end with too much to eat to be presented by Lord Bruce the
Robert and his Cooks Guild minions. There will be assorted crafts to while
away the time, as well as merchants to tempt you with fine wares.
After all, what event would be complete if not for our worthy Merchants.
We are Pleased and Honored that Her Royal Majesty, Queen Rowan, shall join
our merry band this wondrous day.
Should you wish to indulge in the Arts and Sciences we offer the following
competitions:
"Dueling Bards", sponsored by Lord Richard Wyn. Come and test your mettle,
your meter and your quick wit against your fellow bards.
Not a 'Combat Bard'? No Matter, The Honorable Lady Yseulte Trevelyan offers
a gentler challenge - Bardic Humor - bring out your best funny story, silly
saga or song.
And what humor in court is complete without a Jester or two. To be sure we
must have the best of Jesters and thus does Baroness Chagan Khulan offer a
prize to the best Jesters Hat and Wand. Documentation appreciated, not
required.
Does this mean we are childish? Nay - but we do like to while away the
winter with Toys and Games. To this end milady Tsura to je Stariji
challenges you to bring out your best Period Toy or Game. This is a two
level competition - for the older children (sometimes called adults) we ask
documentation of you. There shall be a second judging by the true children
to select that game or toy that THEY would most enjoy.
And last but never least, Our esteemed Minister of Arts and Sciences, Lord
Denis de Dijon, offers a Mask competition in two formats; Firstly, masks in
the colors of Bright Hills, black, gold and silver and for the more
exotic - masks in all colors. These masks may be made on site or in
advance. There will be supplies on hand for those wishing to assemble a
mask at the event.
And for the Ladies Pleasure... the Gentlemen's "Men in Tights" competition.
Gentlemen! Make a leg and prepare to strut your stuff in your most
dazzling pair of tights! This is a fundraiser for Colon Cancer sponsored by
our own Baroness Roana De Laci. Support the cause! Vote for the best Lord's
Legs! The Lord with the most Tokens wins the competition. The cost of the
tokens is your contribution to this worthy cause. A Surprise prize awaits
the man of the hour.
Other pleasantries will be added and set forth here
for your interest and edification as we learn of them.
