[MR] High Table - And I actually changed my mind on this!?!?!?!?

After reading and hearing the arguments, I find myself in the amazing
position of having my mind changed.

I would like to state the "real" request as I see it.....

Their Majesties/Highness/Excellencies would like to reward some number of
worthies at an event. The reward they would like to bestow is a place at High
Table for the evening's feast. Their feast spots should be comped, if they
have not already paid.

Is that right? OK, let's compare that to another situation....

At an event, a prize has been purchased using the Local group's funds. The
prize will be bestowed upon that person who is found to be the most
Chivalrous upon the field for the day. Her Majesty will be the one to make the
determination at the end of the tournament.

I am sure the second situation has come up often throughout the Society, and
has rarely been questioned.

How is that different from the first option?

I was opposed to this at the beginning, but I'm for it now. All the budget
needs to say is

"6 Feast places are to be made available to the Royals as prizes to bestow
as they see fit to any individual whom they deem most worthy of the Honor of
sitting High Table."

Justification in hand, the budget passes both SCA and IRS rules, as ANY
individual could "win" this honor, not just a friend of the King, or a member of
his household.

In service,
