OK, so the description of the competition as posted in the event flyer was
not very clear. OK, so I've been really bad this week about getting my
tukhus in gear and posting the rules. But here they are, so OK.

Tempore Atlantia - Best Entry By an SCA merchant.

Rules:
1) all entrants must be SCA merchants. This means that you must sell your
wars within the SCA community. You don't have to be a retailer; those who
sell only on commission or only wholesale qualify as well - but be prepared
to prove it. A customer who will vouch for you will be adequate proof, as
will one who expresses peevishness over the fact that her order hasn't been
filled yet. Showing us a Tax ID number, listing in the Holiday Faire or
Pennsic merchant book, or other documentary proof also works, but it less
rife with opportunity for comic relief. And you don't have to sell often -
those who merchant an event a year still qualify.

2) You must have made the entry. It does not have to be in your usual
medium, but it does have to be of your own manufacture.

3) The item must be for sale. No exceptions. You may not get around this
by hugely overpricing your item, either. If you are charging $1000 for a
linen chemise, be prepared to explain why. If you grew the flax that you
harvested and spun and wove and bleached and hand-sewn into a
perfectly-doucmented supportive underdress for a fitted kirtle, then great,
that's a fair price. But if someone offers you the money, you've gotta
sell. If one of the judges offers to purchase your entry, you must sell it.
Items may not be removed from the display until the competition is over,
however.

4) You must document your item. This is an A&S competition, after all.

5) Someone will take home a very cool, very worthwhile prize.

I will be sponsoring this competition for a full cycle of Tempore Atlantia,
and I hope that it is successful. If it gets to be a large enough field of
competitiors, I will consider opening a seperate category for New Merchants,
and possibly one for Old Farts Who Outta Know Better.

Please feel free to email me with questions or jeers.

YIS,

Magister Eadric the Potter
