We are having an event very near the border of Atlantia and the East
Kingdoms in April and we would welcome any riders from other kingdoms.
This is a small, low-key, relaxing event with a great feast and a lot
of fun. There are activities planned for heavy fighters, rapier and
archers as well as the arts and sciences in addition to the cavalry
events.

Site: Manchester Volunteer Fireman's Activity Building, 3297 York St,
Manchester, MD 21102.
Please see the event flyer for information on reservations for the
event, which should be sent separately to the autocrat. No pets
allowed in hall except service animals and the site is wet – no modern
containers.
Please supply the information requested below to the Marshal of the
Horse if you plan to ride at this event.

check: Mundane names, membership numbers and indication of adult or
child.
Event Fees: Adult Member $7.00 daytrip, $12.00 with feast (non-SCA
member add $3.00)
Child (6-17) $4.00 daytrip, $7.00 with feast (children are not
charged non-membership fees)
Child (0-5) Free.
There will NOT be general Authorizations at this event. Authorized
Riders from other kingdoms are allowed, but proof of authorization
must be provided (rider card/fighter card). Anyone who wishes to
authorize before this event must contact the MoTH well before the
event and should be familiar with all SCA and Atlantian Cavalry rules.
Horse Owners:
There is NO barn, over-night arrangements can be made. Call Nem for
separate arrangements. Bring buckets for watering, feed and clean-up,
(or a wheel barrow) pitchforks and the usual items for grooming. Don't
forget your authorization and membership cards. There is no shade on
the field. Trailer tying is permitted.
Bring your weapons: lances for jousting rings and quintain, sword or
mace for heads and reeds. You may also want day shade and chairs and
tables since there will not be any provided on the site. The field is
a football field/carnival ground and has no shade it can also be
quite muddy if there has been any rain during the week prior to the
event. If there is ANY question about the weather, Please call Nem
the night before at 443-621-7383 (NLT 11pm)
Please bring a copy of your horses Coggins test results with you. If
crossing state lines, you must also bring a health certificate from
your veterinary. No horses will be unloaded from the trailer until the
MoTH has seen these papers. You may send photocopies or scans of these
papers with your registration. The health cert should be within the
last 30 days before the event. WARNING: Virginia officials are
stopping horse trailers and looking at paperwork. Be sure yours is in
order or they can confiscate and quarantine your horses.
There will not be any RENTAL horses.
Minors (those under 18 years old): NO minor authorizations will be
held the day of the event except for those that have been arranged
prior to the event. Any questions... call Nem
Minors should bring their own weapons scaled down for their size and
they should not have any metal tips on them. Minors must wear an ASTM
approved riding helmet and a parent or legal guardian must be watching
them at all times they are on the horse.
Lets say that again: a parent or legal guardian must be watching them
at all times they are on the horse.
Children as young as five may participate, providing they can
demonstrate they have control of the horse/pony they are riding and
they are already an authorized rider. There is no scaled-down size
equipment for younger riders on ponies available at this event.
"Pony rides" are not allowed. All children must be accompanied by an
adult while near the
horses or visiting the barn.

Rules to follow:
No smoking or alcohol in arena area when horses are present or in the
barn area.
Please make sure to help leave the site clean. Clean up after your
horses.
Horses must be attended by an adult at all times when they are not
secured in a stall. Horses may be trailer tied for this
event during the day, prior arrangements must be made overnight. There
is no shade around the edge of the tourney field. Stallions must be
designated as such with yellow ribbons and MUST be pre-registered.
Known kickers or biters are not allowed. Anyone engaging in unsafe
practices or using punishment deemed inappropriate will not be allowed
to participate. The MOTH (Marshal of the Horse) is the final authority
on what is deemed inappropriate behavior.
All riders, are expected to help clean up after the horses. Ground
crew people will be needed to help pass off weapons, reset the games
and water both riders and horses. When you are not riding, we ask that
you help on the field as much as possible. Those wishing to help as
ground crew must be authorized, this includes water bearers. Contact
the MoTH if you need details about authorizing as ground crew.
If you are sharing, please remember that the other persons need to get
as much time in the saddle as you do and that the horse needs to rest
and get water on occasion too.
What to wear: closed toed footwear preferably with a heel, long
pants, nothing dangly, or easily caught on pieces of harness. Approved
riding helmets are suggested, but not required, for those 18 and over.
No spurs on rental horses. Riders wishing to dress their rental horses
must consult the wrangler beforehand. For those bringing a horse, if
you "dress" your horse, please be sure it is used to the costume
before you get to the event. We will be surrounded by heavy fighters
on one side and archery on the other, please train your horse
accordingly.

Schedule: Subject to change
10 AM - Practice and play the games, finish warm-up of horses
and any field set-up left. Liability class for anyone wanting to
authorize in the future. This class is required before authorizing
12:00 – 1:00 PM: Baronial championship and general playing of games.
1 PM – 2 PM ***Lunch***
2 PM – 4:00 PM: Mounted participants will engage in "sheep herding"
(or other animal round-up) and may challenge each other to compete in
specific games.
4:00 – 5 PM: Take care of horses and take down the field, prepare for
court
After 5 pm: go enjoy the rest of the event after the horses are
secured.

Directions to the site:
>From Baltimore and East – Take I 695 to exit 19, I 795 till it ends at
rte 30/Reisterstown Rd. Turn Left/North onto rte 30 into Manchester,
MD. At the first traffic light turn Right onto York St. There is a
BB$T bank, a liquor store and a Mexican convenience store at this
intersection. Follow York St for apprx 5 blocks, the activity
building is on the Right. Turn Right after the tourney field, follow
this road to the trailer parking.
>From points South and West – Take your best route to I-70 and follow
it East to MD rte 27. Follow rte 27 North all the way to Manchester,
MD. Rte 27 ends at rte 30 in Manchester (Sheetz gas station). Turn
right onto rte 30/Main St. Follow rte 30 3-4 blocks to next traffic
light, Turn Left onto York St. Follow York St 5-6 blocks, Activity
building and tourney field on right. Turn right after tourney field,
follow this road to the trailer parking.
