[MR] Gene's update 4-29-07...

Gene's still eager to come home and he thinks he'll never get out of the hospital.  

He had dialysis again Saturday.  

I'm having a hard time at the rehab hospital because I don't get to talk to Gene's doctor/therapist  like I did in Cary.  I have to talk to the "Case Manager" and she works only Monday through Friday 8-4.  So I don't get updates on his progress like I want.  I don't know what they are saying about his dialysis or how long he'll be on it.  Are the kidneys getting better?  I'll talk to the "Case Manager" on Monday to get some answers.

Gene's shoulder has been bothering him which has nothing to do with why he came to the hospital but I think it is bursitis.  He had it off and on before but now it's bothering him.  I think it's being aggravated by the bed and from having some of the physical therapy.  Saturday it was hurting him so bad that the percocet (pain killer) didn't help.  When he went to dialysis he told the doctor his problem and they gave him morphine.  That worked really well.  

His bp is doing well. It's not as low as it had before when he stands up.  He's still not the steadiest when he stands up and walks.  

He still is taking meds for the infection in his blood.  He hasn't had a fever so I think it is gone but you have to take the Vancomycin for at least 10 days to make sure it's out of your system.  I'm going to ask about this as well.  

Gene's enjoying the emails everyone is sending.  And looks forward to me bringing the computer in and reading them to him.  So keep them coming.  It's one of the high lights of the day (except of course see me).  eogan at nc.rr.com
