[MR] toc this past weekend and some random thoughts

the question is should i start with the bad or the good?  well, there isn't
a lot of either so im not sure it matters.  so lets go to the bottom and
work our way up.

 

the site was not worth the enormous $8.00 fee.  folks we stood around a
field all day with a small hall for that much money?  come on.  next time
lets go to someones house and order pizza.  i understand that sites aren't
cheap these days but do we need them that bad?  it wasn't located in a
region that served the kingdom well given the importance of the event.  holy
crap was i amazed that so many guys showed up from... oh wait. im doing bad
stuff first.    ok so the site wasn't the best and it was located in a poor
place overall.  who is to be blamed for that?  you guys in the middle of the
kingdom.  thank goodness this brand new canton stepped up and hosted us at
the site they got charged too much for.  good thing we had a toc!!!  next
year we need a better site location wise and price wise.  not sure where
that is but i call lynchburg out for next years toc.  

 

hmmmm.  more bad stuff...  

 

so the hosting group kicked butt overall with the event even if the site was
overpriced and not the best kingdom location.  

 

so lets go to the goodness then.

 

folks, let me start by saying i was more than happy last year to bring the
opinion of the knights to the rest of the fighting community.  i thank his
grace michael for trusting me, as my king, to deliver our message.  as most
of you know our unbelted fighters failed to carry on atlantias renown as the
warrior elite in the sca.  this, as i said then, is a fault shared by the
army and the masters of our combat.  we knights failed.  our students
failed.  those that support us all stayed true to their commitment and we
thank you all.  the mols, mics, waterbearers, cheering crowds, etc.  but
your job is easy compared to ours and i expect you to show us the way to
shine.  we fought like crap last year.  some of the knights did well but
most of us fought like we were training new fighters.  shame on us last
time.  this time...  a little better.  i will address my brothers soon and
in a different forum about what i saw in my tapes of this weekend.

 

travel man..  wow, guys you are all awesome.  i saw cats from every stretch
of this kingdom.  knights and squires and new fighters a like.  awesome!!!!
it really makes me feel like closer to the way i used to feel about being
atlantian.  that kind of proud expectation that all atlantians would be
there no matter what to make us all that much better.  some of the faces i
saw made me so proud.  all of the faces i saw made me happy.

 

let me go to my report card mode real fast and then ill get all mushy.

 

report card..  unbelted fighters.  you guys did ok.  not great.  but ok.  i
fought basically three fighters.  let me call them hungry, working, honest.

 

 

before i do this let me say that i tried to create a list i could judge by.
his majesty said four knights per list (four lists).  the ebonwoulfe clan
had three knights (logan, sinclair, kael).  i asked my friend and brother
valharic to join us.  i wanted a stout list.  a list like his grace micheal
asked for last year (me, ragnarr, cuan) while he was our king.  a big boy
list.  sorry guys, if you dont think and ebonwoulfe list is a big boy list
come and let me know and bring a bunch of friends.  we are happy to educate.
;^)  we had a few others join us later and that too was awesome.  thank you
our brothers.

 

 

so, you've stayed this long so lets go to..  

 

hungry fighters.  

you are the guys that came at me.  you are the ones that fought.  working
fighters.  you guys were outclassed and out skilled.  you came at me with
open eyes and fear.  you tried and failed and learned and tried again and
learned and sponged.  honest fighters.  you guys came and got beat up.  you
learned some but not much.  its too far above your head still.  you will be
there and i love you all for your heart.  i was you at one time and you will
be me in time.  this is not about you.  please call me or any knight out and
ask for our help.  its yours.

 

working fighters.

you guys have a long way to go and you are well on your way.  you all did
what i expected.  good for you, place yourself here if you should be.
nothing wrong with that and good for you.

 

honest fighters.

you guys are new and hungry and open eyed and you all block with your heads.
we all did, i did, it is cool to be there.  stick there and you will always
be there and you will suck.  thats cool if you want to be there, but i bet
you dont.  i blocked with my head for a long time.  to stay is cool if you
like it.  to leave takes work.  any real knight will help you move up.
honest fighters i fought, thank you.  you guys are getting your toes wet, i
say jump in!!  trust me its the bomb!

 

 

 

so, now ill get to some specifics.

 

guys listen.  please delete this if you are all about language and feelings
and all the soft world stuff.  i wish i could protect myself and just speak
but i know the sca is so full of sissy as$ed (hey hey hey thats not foul so
settle) people i cant speak without soft people barking.

 

 

i will talk about all the good and awesome stuff soon.  it was all good and
it was all awesome.  but the pinpoints will be done soon under a new name, a
new safe name that hopefully i dont have to endure some holier than thou
