Gene is doing better today. They have moved him to a room near ICU but not in intensive care. He will have a health care worker stay with him in the evenings but does not need the round the clock attention that ICU provides. He is speaking now and the hospital is arranging for a speech therapist. His comprehension is sometimes fuzzy but improving. He is swallowing (great news) and will attempt some dinner tonight which we hope will make the feeding tube procedure unnecessary. BP is still fluxuating but not as dangerously as this weekend. 

Gene sends his thanks and love to everyone. The visiting process is much the same as it was in ICU although more people can get in to see him. Just 1-2 visitors at a time and please only stay a few minutes as he will tire easily. If there is any possibility of your having been exposed to any germs or you are not feeling well, please wait before visiting. Gene's strength is still low and fighting an infection is a battle he does not need. Visiting Hours are 11am to 8pm (but his last visitor has usually been Beth at 6:30pm).
