Greetings!
This is a missive from Jason Williams, with some commentary about the
background checks.
There has been a lot of good commetary on the elist, and I plan on sharing
general ideas and concerns with them.
However, if you have a specific idea or concern, please contact them at the
comments at sca.org address to share directly with those people developing the
final policy. Please do not send them comments with offensive language or
rude statements, as that will not help the situation and makes everything
you say get taken less seriously.
Once we have more details on what society is going to require, we can
discuss what Atlantia needs to do from there. Whatever the process is,
please be assured that I will be the first person to run through the
process, to make sure that it works the way it should. I can then share
with anyone interested how the process flows for us at a Kingdom level. We
have a long way to go before that happens, so now is the time to let the BoD
know how you think the process should go.
Thank you!
Fiona MacLeod

Subject: [Branchseneschals] [Announcements] Regarding Background Checks
To: announcements at lists.sca.org
The SCA Corporate Office wishes to express its gratitude to the members and
participants who have taken the time to offer their thoughts and advice
regarding the background check program announced earlier in the week.
We will endeavor to address issues brought up as the implementation process
is developed. We continue to invite polite, concerned and productive
comments from our participants regarding this upcoming program. Vitriolic
diatribe offers little in the way of solutions, and cheapens the concerns
expressed therein.
The Board and Corporate Officers are creating a list of questions to be
answered regarding the implementation of this program, and will continue to
consider counsel from our members.
Please bear in mind that it is not the desire of the Directors or Corporate
staff to implement any process that reduces participation or causes hardship
for our members. However, we are faced with certain legal obligations that
make background checks the only viable option. Therefore, we are taking
every step possible to make this new process as painless as possible for
everyone.
Please keep those comments coming: comments at sca.org.
Regards,
Jason Williams – Chairman, SCA Inc.
