I've watched this thread with great interest today.I've seen alot of well thought out views and in one form or another have to agree with all of them.I think the BOD should follow through with this and I don't even have children.Having worked in and around law enforcement for several years though I don't think it will totally do away with what looks like a growing threat. What needs to be considered is that "everyone" will come into contact with children at one point or another at an event.Granted there is usually large crowds around so most predators would shy away from doing anything here. What frightens me the most is the amount of unsupervised children that I see running around at events. These are the kids that need to be considered when thinking of opportunity. This is where someone may strike a potential victim.Does this mean everyone will have to get background checks to become a member? No, but eventually who knows. What about the amount of guests that may attend events
or sponsored events? These are questions that need to be raised as well. What we need also is education.Specificaly from the parents. No one wants to have to talk to they're kids about these sorts of things. But in these times it's necessary to keep them safe.
These are just some of the questions that can be thought of.But I think we can all come up with solutions. But at least we now have an open discussion about it.
YIS,
Lord Duncan MacLaren
