I've been reading everyone's suggestions and past experiences so decided to add my 2 pfenning...

I submit my items to A&S infrequently, mainly because I am am "art without a frame" type person and I absolutely abhor term papers. When giving documentation, I will give the barest information: where I got the inspiration, what I did, why I did it. I get discouraged when I don't "win" and don't get constructive feedback. I'm sorry, the tokens are nice, as well as the "good job! keep trying!" remarks; but they tell me not where I fell short or suggestions on how to improve. I do remember one time when I entered in a sewing project that I was SO proud of accomplishing even showed the documentation and my inspiration for the piece. Only ONE of the judges gave me a constructive suggestion.. about the raw seams; now I make certain to double over my seams. But I don't think I will ever enter in another costuming entry because of a couple of remarks about my choices of edging (this btw was a novice entry, sewing is not my strong suit), "This isn't handmade edging!" is the one
comment that sticks in my mind, it made me feel lower than low that this person chose to pick out something so petty as the edging not being handmade, and totally disregarded my sewing skills because of that. I will still attempt to do cooking A&S; but I would appreciate input.

Mayhap as an incentive for the judges to give constructive imput the submitter could actually leave a comment sheet for them to suggest thier ideas? I know that on the judging sheet there is a space for comments, but this would be one for the submitter to look at.
