Tomorrow, my son Ryan will turn 8 weeks old. He spent a little over a week in the NICU when he was born. One of the very, very touching things was when we came in and found him lying in his little NICU bed, warmly tucked in by a yellow Project Linus blanket. Though Ryan was never gravely ill, it was still a warm, comforting thing for us as parents to be reminded of the generosity of others at what was a very trying time.

For those of you with the talent and a mind for charity, I would wholly recommend this group as a worthy way to spend that energy.

Subject: [MR] Project Linus collectrion at Feast of St Hermingild

Greetings!
I would like to appeal to the generous nature of you all. If you have a small child, you know what the gift of a blankie means to them. And if that small child is in the hospital or has been through a terrible ordeal, the gift means even more.

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold mission:
First, it is their mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."
Second, it is their mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

In conjunction with Project Linus, I would like to announce a collection center for handmade blankies at Feast of St. Hemingild. I will be accepting any and all handmade blankies for donation to this wonderful project. This is a very easy way to provide comfort to a child who desperately needs it.

The website for project Linus is here: http://www.projectlinus.org/index.shtml and their guidelines for blankies and pattern are here: http://www.projectlinus.org/links.shtml#Patterns

Please consider using some of your soft scrap fabric and making a blankie for this project.

Thank you,
Baroness Brig ingen Erennaigh
