No but that's a good one!  My youngest is now 24.

The best thing I think I did for her was to be extremely open and frank 
without mincing words and beating around the bush on any subject.  She knows 
exactly what kinds of things life can and will bring at her and different 
ways to either try to avoid or deal with situations of many types.  It is a 
dishonor to our children to try to believe or have them believe that the bad 
things in life will not touch them.  Like it or not, bad stuff happens to 
all of us, from losing a loved one to violent crimes to having our hope and 
dreams dashed to the ground.  Teaching your kids that stuff, and how to 
recover from them is the greatest gift we can give them.  That is, of 
course, my personal opinion.

Now back to your regularly scheduled dead horse... whack whack..
