Greetings to all,
The latest policy changes have been added to the Clerk
of Law website at: http://law.atlantia.sca.org/
I am also including them in this e-mail for your
convenience. For questions about specific content,
please direct them to the Officer of State responsible
for the specific policy changes.
The following Policy changes or additions were
published in the February 2007 Acorn.
3.11.3.2.5 A blade may be parried by the off
(non-weapon) hand or arm. Light rapiers may not be
grasped or trapped under any circumstance. Heavy
rapiers and cut & thrust blades may be grasped in
accordance to Society rapier rules, specifically 4.H.
The following Policy changes or additions were
published in the March 2007 Acorn.
3.11.2 Rapier Combat Weapons and Armor Standards
Atlantia will follow Corporate Rules for Rapier in the
Society for Creative Anachronism, Incorporated (found
at the Society Marshals Web Site at
(http://www.sca.org/officers/marshal/combat/rapier/index.html),
including cut and thrust rapier, with the following
exceptions:
3.11.2.2 For cut and thrust rapier combat, the
following additional areas must be covered with rigid
protection:
*The small bones of the wrist,
*The elbow point and bones at either side of the
elbow joint,
*The kneecap point and bones at either side of the
knee joint,
*The back of the head must also be covered by
rigid material, lined by at least ¼ inch (6mm) of
closed cell foam or an equivalent padding.
Note: Fighters who choose to participate in Cut &
Thrust combat acknowledge that they will be struck
with a harder blow than they would normally receive in
heavy or light rapier combat, and they should act with
the interest of safety of their opponent in mind.
3.11.3.1.5 A valid percussive cut is any properly
executed chop-like cut striking the opponent with
positive force.
3.11.3.2.3 A Valid Blow (thrust or cut) to an arm or
leg will cause the loss of the use of that limb. For
cut and thrust bouts, a percussive cut to the leg or
foot will result in the loss of the bout.
Removal of 3.11.4.6.5 Deliberately trapping the blade
in any fashion.
The letter from the Triton Principal Herald in the
March 2007 Acorn refers to these policy changes:
2.4.5 Warrants consist of a two-year term. All group
heralds can serve a two-year term with an approved
warrant. A primary group herald can serve no more than
two consecutive warrants (for a total of 4 years).
2.4.6 No person shall be warranted who has an
outstanding NSF check with the College of Heralds of
Atlantia, written on their personal checking account.
In Service,
Lady Courtney
