It seems to me that at least part of this discussion is highlighting the
wrong problem.
A dog that doesn't stop barking all night long at an event . . . dogs
barking along the list field . . . tied to trees and left unattended . . .
These are matters that should have been dealt with by the autocrats of the
events or their deputies. It is wholly within my realm of responsibilities and
level of authority to deal with unruly _____ with whatever means is necessary
to the situation. Fill in the blank with dog, cat, goat, child/parent, drunk
cuss, dirty old lech . . .
Now, understanding that this is not a perfect world and you cannot force the
rest of the Society or society in general to live your version of the
perfect world . . . there are points at which most people will agree a line has
been crossed. That's the job/responsibility of an event steward.
What is it that event stewards . . . autocrats . . . whatever you want to
call the person in charge of the event . . . what seems to be the problem if
they're not dealing with these issues?
