Dear List:

Please note that while there's an attribution to me at
the top of this and there are snippets of a post I
wrote throughout, this message didn't come from me and
doesn't seem to be in response to much I happened to
write.

To make my own self clear: I've been in the dog game
for 30+ years. I've owned, bred, trained, and showed
purebreds in one form or another for that time. When
I give my dog his distemper combo and kennel cough
vaccinations, I do it in consultation with my
veterinarian -- he knows what shots I give, when, and
he's comfortable with me doing it. I'm comfortable
with me doing it. He sees the dog for rabies shots,
annual heartworm screenings, and various incidentals;
I just handle the routine vaccinations. I'm not
advocating every pet owner out there running off to do
the same thing. I was, like Kari, pointing out that
many of us do, in fact, handle these things ourselves.
