Hi!

Good discussion. It will help to us all be better SCA
pet owners.

I also vacinate my dog and am not concerned about my
pet catching anything from another pet or passing
anything along. 4-H, pet shows, state fairs, etc.,
have different concerns about animal welfare than we
do in a casual setting.

Rabies is a concern in Maryland but any smart pet
owner will vacinate for it. The consequences of not
vacinating are bad. Your animal WILL be destroyed to
test for rabies unless you can provide proof of
vacination if there is ever a problem. So well cared
for pets not being vacinated is not likely.

There's a better chance of catching a cold from
someone who comes to an event, coughs all day, who
feels "It's okay" they are "almost over it".

The biggest threat at events to my dog are her
mooching ways and going home full of snacks from
people who fall for her antics! I also keep my dog
under control so that she is not a pest to others.

Wait a minute, kind of sounds just like how I bring my
kids to SCA events.....scary.....
