Subject: *WH* FW: Celtic Cattle Raids : COW-BALL ---- Rules and regulations

Revision are underlined..

At Celtic Cattle Raids on the 23rd of this month,

The excellent barony of Wind Master's hill in the fine canton of Nimenefeld,

will be holding the first annual "Cattle Bowl".

The "Cow-Ball" scenario of "cattle bowl" at Celtic Cattle Raids is this:

The Rules of "Cow-Ball"

The Ball/Cow:

a rolling Life sized Boffer Mad-Cow...

Field:

On the field we will chalk a normal sized foot ball field, lines and
everything...

I may need help with this... If anyone has access to a "field chalker" let
me know. ASAP.

Basic goal of the game:

All the same rules of foot ball work here...

(except field goal kicks) for obvious reasons...

The team that can move the mad cow into the opposite side's goal line,
infecting the enemy team's herd, wins a point...

The total amount of points to win the game will be decided by both teams
after 3 points are awarded to a side...

Coin toss: there is none...

The two teams start out on their perspective 10 yard line.

Collision ensues... initial possession is granted to the surviving team...

Once possession is established, the cow is rolled out to the 50 yard line..
The possessing team starts out, on the 50 yard line, with three players
touching the cow "out front" of their line...

and

The opposite team starts 10 yard away...

Plays:

This is "KILL" cow-ball.... not "touch" cow-ball... not "tackle" cow-ball...

When a player is killed he does NOT "fall down and die"... He calls the blow
and steps quickly off to the nearest side line... he is a ghost and cannot
interfere with play as he walks off...(repeat offenders see "cow abuse
penalties") "The dead" remain dead until the beginning of the next play...

A play starts out with the team "in possession" with three players touching
the cow "out front" of there line...The opposite team starts 10 yard away...

"A play" stops when there are less then 2 team mates alive on a side...

Or one of "the Cow runners" or the cow herself steps over the side lines.

Or One of the teams calls one of its 2 "time outs".

or when any marshal call Hold. and calls a new play.

The cow stays where it stops, when "a Play stops" and the cow is "reset" in
between plays, by the marshals, according to the "Rules of grazing"...

Rules of grazing:

Cows graze when they are left alone....

so, in between plays, the cow will graze a minimum of 3 to 10 yards, decided
by the marshals via a "spinner" from a board game... and the cow will travel
in a random direction decided by yet another spin... So it is possible for
the cow to score his own field goal if a team moves the cow close enough to
the goal line and "gets lucky"...

Cow movement and possession:

2 players of a team must touch the cow at all times for it to remain
"actively in cow Possession"...

If the "possessing team" chooses to abandon the cow with only 1 actively
touching payers, or none at all, the cow is still in the team's
"possession" but considered "abandoned" and open to interception...

To "move" the cow a team must have a minimum of 3 team mates touching it at
all times... no more then 6 team mates can move the cow at one time.

The cow must "head" in the direction of movement...

no backwards running the cow... no dragging the cow... no sitting on the
cow... no excessive beating of the cow...no "running each other over" with
the cow... no dieing in front of the cow to block its movement...

These kinds of cow abuse are not tolerated! And are subject to a "cow abuse
penalty" of ten yards and the offending player being called dead and having
to "sit out" the next play...

You may not touch the cow... If your team does not have "possession" of the
cow.

Excessive blocking of the cow or pushing of the cow when your team does not
have "possession" of the cow, will result in a penalty (see "cow abuse
penalty" above)

Interception:

Interception can be made from the team "in cow possession", if the cow
becomes abandoned... Ie: the cow is left alone, (less then 2 players not
touching it) or all "cow runners" are all slain while the team "in
possession" still has 3 other players left alive, who are not touching the
cow...

The intercepting team must do so by taking control of the abandoned cow by
touching it with three players of their own...

Questions and comments are welcome so that we can further iron out the rules
before play at Celtic cattle raids...
