[MR] WoW - Where does your roll-call start?

In 1625 Jan Cornelisson Klyn left Holland and came to New Amsterdam. Here,
he married and woman whose name is lost to history but who begins my personal
roll-call. The one thing about her is that she died in 1632 of the "Nunns
illness". So it is recorded in Jan's household records.

This nameless woman was just 28 years old and she was my
great-great-great-great ... 10 greats grandmother. (gotta love those Dutch & Germans for keeping
such good records!)

Of the women in my family whom I've actually known, my great grandmother,
both of her daughters, four of their daughters, two of their daughters and my
aunt have had run-ins with various annomalies of breast tissue, some benign,
some malignant. . . all frightening.

How has breast cancer touched your life?

At War of the Wings every person can help win this battle against Breast
Cancer in a myriad of ways.

At (PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE) 9 pm on Friday Oct 20, Duke Logan Ebonwoulfe
shall sponsor a Heavy Torchlight Tourney for which each combatant will pay $2
to benefit breast cancer research.

Also at 9 pm on Friday, there will be a Torch Light Shoot on the Archery
Range. Entry fee will be $2 to benefit breast cancer research.

During this tourney, Lady Allegranza Marcovaldi shall offer soup and drink
for sale. Donations of foodstuffs and volunteer help will be gratefully
accepted. Contact Lady Allegranza at allegranza AT roanwoulfe DOT com for details.

Asszony Bessenyei Rozsa, co-autocrat of the war, is coordinating the
creation of themed baskets to be raffled. Donations of goods to create the baskets
are sought. Baskets will be created based on what items are received between
now and then by Rozsa. Suggestions might include baskets for fighters, new
members, feast gear, textiles, scribal work, books and so on. Contact Asszony
Rozsa at qchell AT earthlink DOT net for details or to donate.

In addition, a jar will be placed in prominence at the event. Monies put in
the jar and all proceeds from the tourney, food vending and basket raffle
shall be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Lady Annora Hall is sponsoring an A&S competition . . . the Best Use of
Pink, to be determined by Populace Vote. Lady Annora shall make a donation in the
name of the winner of this competition to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

One in seven women will be diagnosed with the Nuns’ Disease in their
lifetimes . . . 2.3 million women in the New World live with this disease right now,
not knowing they have it, having survived it or currently fighting it.

Survival rates have gone from zero to 86 percent or more when the cancer is
detected early.

We can help make that better. This is a battle we can win.
