And the race is on
There are two good articles out there in the final
polishing stages needing some help with miscellaneous
end notes.
If I get one of them returned to me this week I will
have a draft of our first electronic Oak issue ready.
Im hoping to get both of them back shortly as theyre
both really good articles.
This means that there is almost a draft of the 1st
electronic issue of the Oak. I am behind my own
schedule but I really wanted articles from a variety
of sources. I really wanted our first electronic
issue to be a true mix of what Atlantia can do.
If you want an article to be published in the first
electronic issue please get it to me within the next
week!
If you are a laurel that I asked to wait for future
issues please go ahead and send me the articles you
have done. As late as it is I still want two issues
of the Oak out this year and am still planning on a
late December issue. Even if the second issue is only
3 small articles from people in the same order that
would be OK.
As soon as I have a draft of the first electronic
issue sent to assistant editors for final review Ill
begin work on this years second issue.
Im still ironing out kinks in the process for an
electronic issue and Im still learning. This has
been a huge learning curve for me and Mistress Karen
and Master Tirloch have been very patient with me. I
expect a few bugs/mistakes as we distribute our first
electronic issue so please be patient.
I also note that Ive reviewed about 10 articles
throughout the kingdom. They were at various stages
in the writing process. As winter sends us indoors we
find more time for writing projects. Now would be a
great time to work on those and get them ready for the
2nd issue.
When we finally get an issue published Ill have a
great big letter for the Acorn with a list of common
roadblocks to publication.
If we are to be a viable legal SCA publication we can
not simply slap a list of links on a web site and call
it the Oak. We must maintain the same edit/review
process as a paper publication in order to keep
everything legal.
Speaking of paper publications - to date Ive had one
request for the paper copy when it comes out. If you
also want a paper copy please write me privately.
Thank you!
Lady Rebecca the Contrary
Oak Editor
