I love the smaller events and I also equally love having a few larger
events during the year. I enjoy getting to know people and the
camaraderie of small events. I also love the pageantry and circumstance
of large scale events.
The factors that most often determines whether I will be in attendance
at an event is distance and camping. Long drives are just too
physically exhausting for a weekend event and then there is the whole
financial worries of having to get accommodations for events that are
day trip only. Whether or not an event offers camping as an option
often affects my decision to attend...no camping - often means no event
for me regardless of whether it is winter or summer.
On pre-regestering for events, speaking as a past autocrat, it is
wonderful when people preregister, and I didn't mind getting the email's
of those who were intending to come. Even though I didn't "count" on
those people, it still gave me an idea of what the attendance had the
potential to be. I try to pre-register when I can, and if I don't it is
always either financial or the fact that I am not sure if I will be able
to attend. In those cases, I am not upset if feast is sold out, etc.
It is a chance that I take. I also don't expect a refund if it ends up
that I am unable to attend an event that I had planned on attending.
I like the fact that there are choices on our calendar. Without them I
suspect that I would be able to attend very few events.
