I have been a marshal in Atlantia for many years, and have been trained to
high standards by people like Sir Timoch, who brings a military officer's
professionalism to the job, and by the example of many fine marshals such as
Baron Arn-Bjorn and my own knight Syr Otto. If there is a new rule, I will
enforce it because I agreed to do so when I got my warrant.

But I still think the new rules are stupid. (See my previous post.) I cannot
in honor refuse to enforce them and retain my warrant, but I can be as
liberal in my definition of "or the equivalent" as possible, and I can write
and sign petitions to get this change made.

so why are there some marshals that will simply ignore these rules? well, i
guess for the same reason mrs parks sat in the front of the bus. i mean a
rule is a rule and all but she felt strongly enough that this was a dumb
rule that she decided to ignore it. now i know this is no human rights
level situation of course. but it does display the mindset that if its
wrong its wrong.

we are not empowered in the sca to force change. the bod and the society
officers are not chosen by our votes and we can not kick them out. this is
very frustrating when stupid rules are place on our heads.
