[MR] OT - Is the SCA a counter-cultural movement?

I don't think the SCA's Values are counter cultural. Counter cultural would
suggest opposite of the norms of society. Even in this modern time, the core
values of the SCA, Chivalry, Courtesy, Respect, Morality, Ettiquette, are
all part of polite society. Its true that these days these values are not as
apparent anymore, but it is still a core basis of our everyday values. We're
not going back to a middle aged society values, we're only borrowing their
style of dress and pageantry. That is part of the Anachronism.
