I'm quoting the above not to criticize Dante, but because it's
representative of a couple of the comments I've seen today.

You know, a couple people have made comments to the effect of, "If you can't
attend Unevent, you shouldn't have decided to be an officer" but looking at
the Book of Policy on-line, the only officer I see who's required to attend
Unevent is the seneschal.  Under the list of duties for a local chronicler
(my office), for example, I see how often I'm required to publish a
newsletter and what it must include, but nothing that says I'm required, or
even expected, to attend Unevent.

This isn't to say Unevent is unimportant.  On the contrary, I think it is
important, and I'm going, along with 8 other people from my barony. However,
if we're going to talk about how it's the duty of all officers to attend,
regardless of their long drive, work, or childcare situation, I'd like for
someone to show me where it's written that attendance is expected of all
local group officers.
