Cavalry Tournament Information
Event: Midsummers Twilight Tourney
Site: Person County Group Homes 363 Jerry Dixon Road, Leasburg, NC 27291
Date: June 16-18, 2006
The Canton of Buckston on Eno is hosting a weekend of tournaments and revelry which include two cavalry competitions , a wildflower hunt and a war practice during these days. Anyone honing their skills for the war that is looming on the western horizon of our hosts would be well advised to attend this weekend for training and new skills. All wishing to participate in the cavalry portion of the event must send in their registration and appropriate money order to the Cavalry Marshal in Charge by June 14, 2006. Schedule of Activities
Friday
Marshal in Charge (MIC) will be on site and ready to check in competitors and horses at 6pmand will remain on site until 1 pm Sunday afternoon.
6:00 pm Horses may start arriving on site.
7:00 pm Field Set Up
Arena has lights and may be used at main barn with prior arrangements. Notify MIC if you have an interest in riding on Friday evening.
Saturday
7:45 am Procession to the Tournament Field from Barn.
8:00 am MOL Waivers and Tournament Sign Up.
Equipment Inspection for those bringing personal games equipment.

9:30 am Midsummers Morning Tournament
11:00 am Procession to the Barn from the Tournament Field
11:15 am Liability Class (30 minutes) (Must complete to authorize.)
3:45 pm Wildflower Hunting (Trail Ride around Farm Ventures)

Due to the price of fuel and other things the rental is $90 for the day. Please keep in mind that the hourly rate for trail horses at most stables starts at $30 per hour. Rental can be split between riders according to the level of activity expected of the rental horses which is governed by SCA regulations. When a rental horse is secured for you, a money order must be received by June 14, 2006 to secure your rental. Money orders must be made out to the wrangler NOT the Marshal in Charge.

Marshal In Charge will send you the rental amount and wranglers name when a horse has been selected for you. If you wish to practice on Sunday that is an additional rental fee as it is a new day but only a half day.
Please Read before Arriving on Site:
All horses must have a current proof of negative coggins and if transported from out of the state a certificate of health per SCA regulations. Those not having this paperwork must leave the premises.
Horses that are known kickers and biters will not be allowed to participate.
Stallions are not allowed on site.
Minors (17 years and younger) must have appropriate paperwork submitted by June 14, 2006, must have a parent with them while on the horse and must have an ASTM approved helmet and appropriate footwear.
All adults participating must sign the appropriate waivers for themselves or show a blue card. They must have on appropriate footwear while around the horses and it is recommended that an ASTM approved helmet be worn while riding.
All riders competing must be an authorized rider in the Kingdom of Atlantia or be prepared to complete the authorization process.
This is a DRY site. No alcohol is permitted. Anyone with alcohol must leave the site.
Schedule will be strictly followed. The road between the barn and the field of competition is a public road in which people may be driving or walking. SCA minimal regulations apply. Horses going to and from the field must have a marshal of the horse present and announcing their progress, bells on the harness and/or someone leading the horse.
Be advised that site hounds will be coursing in the morning and possibly close to the cavalry field. Coursing usually involves a single hound chasing a plastic bag on a motorized runner. Be sure that your horse is acclimated before arriving at the event to plastic bags, its noises and dogs.
