[MR] Trimming posts, footers and all

The most basic answer is this: Since it is guaranteed that not all
of us have the "latest and greatest"... or even the same operating
system and our choices of software differ.... it is the courteous
thing to do to accommodate the *least capable* software/reader/computer.

Which means in essence that even though *your* (speaking in
generalities) software may prevent you from seeing footers/previously
read bits, etc... someone else's may well not... and as a civilized,
courteous member of our gentility, you then opt to take a few
keystrokes to make others' reading experience a bit easier.

This never ceases to be a flash point, and I never understand why it
is so *hard* to remember that not everyone *has* (can afford/make use
of) all the bells and whistles that some people have at their disposal.
