Of course, any mindset based on religion is a pretty individual thing. I'm
a non-denominational Christian, about as Protestant as one gets, and I have
a great appreciation for symbols. Maybe it's an "English major" mentality
rather than a "Catholic" or "Protestant" mentality.
Personally, I kind of like the idea that one venerates the symbol more so
than the person.
