Posted for Sean MacKelly, due to technical difficulties....
Greetings....
I recently took a wood carving class from a master wood carver from
Warrenton Va. It was a rather simple class but we got talking about more detailed
carving. Seems most of what he does is 17th and 18th century reproductions. I
mentioned that I would be really interested in being able to do carving more
along the lines of what we would all call in Period specifically 13th to 15th
centuries. He said if I could find 4 or 5 others as well as come up with a
few examples of what we'd like to be able to carve he would be willing to put
together a weekend class and teach us how to do it. Now, this is what he
does for a living so there would be a fee but the class fee would have to be
decided later, after he see's how much interest there is as well as how
complicated and now long it would take to teach us what we would like to know. The
class, if there is one, would be at his shop in Warrenton VA (about 2 hours
south of DC) and the date would most likely be in the fall. If anyone is
interested in this, please contact me directly so I can get an idea of the
interest and start to get this set up if there is indeed enough interest.
