[MR] A question of Protocol

Well to be quite honest, I have been witness to all of these except the
missing toast. I have sat a grand total of 3 feasts in my entire time in
Atlantia, so am no good judge on that.
This entire thread began because I am making a decided effort to be "right".
Get my "stuff" together, as well as serve their Excellencies and through
them the Crown to the best of my ability. I find that being courteous take
little effort but a great deal of thought. I have always been told (even
when I lived in Ealdormere) that one respects the Crown and/or Coronet and a
show of that respect can be as simple as rising when they pass or as grand
as you wish it to be (fill in service junky task here). Though I do believe
that there are moments when we all forget, and that can and should be
forgiven, I also believe that(for me at least) the show of respect to
persons of station is a great part of the dream.
To answer your question I am sure some were not aware of the presence of a
person of Station, like you I prefer to assume that they were not being
malicious. But I am equally sure that some were well aware, in fact I
have seen first hand someone not only remain seated but carry on a
conversation with them without so much as a nod. I am not looking to point
fingers and in each case I have witness it could very well be that there was
a reason the person did not attempt the customary reverence that I am not
privy to. Is there any reason other than a health reason that one does not
rise for the Crown and its chosen Baronial Representatives?
In service
Caterine
