ha ha.  yeah, i have found myself in non sca situations doing a little
head bow.  although i must say that the more chronologically mature
people seem to appreciate it.  ;^)

ancient practice or not its still pretty classy.

That's a good distinction.  I'll do the "slight head bow" much more
frequently as a greeting or simple gesture.  If a gentleman holds a door
for
me, for example, I tend to nod my head slightly.  (The funny thing is
that,
mundanely, I've caught myself doing the  same thing if a man holds a
door
open for me; I'm sure it confuses them no end.)
