Good gentles...
Having just arrived home (Yes, many hours later), I felt it best to
thank those who made Wastelands an amazing success, before time
befuddles my already weary brain.
Queen Seonaid, Princess Anneke and Prince Ragnarr thank You for braving
the heat of the Wastelands and those wondrous summer storms to make the
day an incredibly special and memorable for so many.
Before I go any further I need to thank Rufus Pig Boy (aka Walter
Triplett). Your generosity to our Society, your patience with a novice
autocrat, and your hard work are appreciated more than I can ever begin
to convey my thanks for, but I will find a way.. :)
To everyone who braved the heat and unpredictable weather to come to our
"little event",
thank you. I don't know the sizes of Wastelands past, but this
certainly was the largest in my memory and you all made my first attempt
a happily memorable one. Thank you for visiting us, and we hope you
enjoyed the day.
To those individuals of Hindscroft,
William, our submissions herald and all around "catch while catch can"
Aelfwyn and Isabeau for keeping the Gate moving and making me remember
this is fun,
Nuala and Mireann for such a tea that will not soon fade from memory,
clean up crew and running yourselves ragged
and never least Sarah for helping everywhere (unless she has a twin I
didn't know about... for she honestly was working everywhere).
Thank you for coming through and helping to make this event surpass my
wildest expectations. (And anyone who knows me will attest my
expectations can get pretty wild).
Being a small Canton, I found quickly that I have friends, from all over
the Kingdom, who ever so willing to come to the rescue and to whom I am
honored and truly blessed by the Fates to know. This event would not
have happened without you, and I am forever in your debt.
Morwenna the goddess of water and Gatorade. (New motto; "Need water?
I'll travel!) Be it heat, wet grass, or any number of obstacles that
event participants could possibly encounter... No one ever worry about
dehydration when your face is seen, and you are an absolute joy to work
with.. Thank you and Bardoulf for coming and giving of your time. We
all are very appreciative of the joy of which you perform such a needed
and often thankless job. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Our wonderful Archery Marshal Elys.
Miriel (The L.B. was exactly what was needed, and I am forever grateful).
Geffrei who stepped up as our MoL and performed wonderfully.
Baron Duncan & Raphael helping as additional Rapier Marshals.
Sir Axel our one of a kind Youth Combat Marshal.
Mistress Susannah Class Organizer/A&S guru par excellence.
Mistress Jessamyn and Louise for being so good at what you do.
Countess Bera for giving so freely of your time and making the day that
much more enjoyable
Eva and everyone who helped to decorate the feast pavilion and performed
absolute magic.
Reyna and Edward, because you are stealth awesome
Talorgen, thank you for your talents. They are most appreciated.
All the Instructors who took time out to pass their knowledge and love
of their arts onto others and the artisans who shared their works.
Asim... Without your time, your talents, your enthusiasm and the sheer
joy which you share your knowledge, thank you... And although it would
take wild horses to get me to give up my persona.... I have to admit
that visiting the dark side was a great deal of fun... Certainly not
beyond the realm of possibility to do it again.. :->
To to serving staff, everyone who helped clean up after feast and even
those who tried their best to get a stubborn red-head out of the dish
water... Your concern was appreciated as much as your hard work. The
most favored memories come from hard work and laughter... Thank you for
some that I will always cherish ("Who is Yoda?").
To the Corsairs. You came such a long way, worked the entire day,
always with a smile and courtesy. I am deeply grateful for your time
and your hard work. Thank you all so very much.
Greylond, thank you for ALL of your hard work, agreeing to come all this
way to marshal, helping myself and so many others set up before the
rains came, of which I am appreciative but also your friendship which
means even more.
Gracie... Words will never express my gratitude for your friendship as
well as the wonderful feast that was exactly what the event needed, and
doing it in style. I know that working with a first time autocrat comes
with its series of trial and tribulations but your dealt with me like a
champ.. Luv ya... Mean it! ;>
Caterine... I don't have enough room to being the list... THANK
YOU!!!!! and Steve, thank you for letting me share her time (and
sometimes steal too much)... I could not have juggled without either of you.
Afshin.. Thank you for being cruise control director.. :) and HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!
Gise... OH MY! You are wonderful beyond words... Your time, your
talents, your laughter made even the glitches something to giggle about.
(Your ginger cookies are WONDERFUL!)
Last and never least, Baron Marc. Agreeing to Marshall and handling
things so well when I jumped in with both feet and kept going till I was
neck deep. Thank you for your love, endless patience (Well, I hope it
is endless), your bright outlook when I think the clouds are touching
the ground and your steadfast support. I could not have done this
without you. I'll keep my promise. :).
I pray that I am not forgetting a soul, but to those I have mentioned
and /*_ALL_*/ those who lent a hand to such amazing degrees, thank you
from the bottom of my heart. When the whole process started, so many
months ago, little did I realize that I would be doing a juggling act,
by the time of the event... You made this event what it turned out to
be.. THANK YOU....
Now, off to shower and bed.... YAY!!!!!!
I remain,
Alianor
(the happily exhausted ex-autocrat of Wastelands)
Maitresse Alianor atte Red Swanne, OL
Barrone, Barony of the Sacred Stone.
