[MR] basket weaving

I have a general question about basket weaving. I've been doing some
basket weaving workshops in the mundane world, and was wondering how
much difference there is between what we are doing now and historically?
Are there references specific to times/locations for baskets? I'd like
to have a basket weaving workshop at my home for my SCAdian friends, but
want to be sure that what we do isn't "modern".
