Greetings all!
Kingdom Archery Championships is almost here! Archers, you have only 8 days left to get your quivers filled!
That being said, there are a few announcements, one of them major, to inform you all about.
The first announcement is in regards to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. The weekend of July 14-16th, the inner loop of 495 will be reduced to 1 lane, and most traffic will be detoured in an attempt to ease the back-up while they switch traffic over to the new bridge. WHile this isn't an issue on your trip North on the outer loop, please realize that there may still be outer loop congestion due to rubbernecking and such, and it will be an issue on the drive home.
For more info on this, please check their website at:
http://www.wilsonbridge.com/
It is HIGHLY recommended that you find an alternate route to Baltimore. There are several options. Those of you coming from the Richmond area and south can take Rte. 301 just north of Richmond, and follow it to Rte 3 in Bowie. From Rte 3, take 97 North, which will take you to 895 towards Essex (NOT TOWSON). If this sounds too complicated, you can take one of the other alternate routes below.
For those of you coming from the areas between Fredericksburg and DC, there are 2 alternate routes you can consider.
First is to simply take the inner loop of 495, and go west around DC. It's a longer drive in miles, but will probably be shorter in time.
The second route, for those of you familiar with DC, is to take 395 North into DC, pick up 295 North, and either take it all the way to 95 in Baltimore, or to 495 and then to 95 North.
This route is NOT recommended for those of you who do not know DC, as there is a fast little jog over to Pennsylvania Ave from 395 which can get confusing if you don't know it.
OK, Now that that issue is taken car of, there are a few announcements about the site of the event, Baltimore Bowmen.
First off, the road is very prmitive going into the park. There are lots of large potholes, so please, take it slow going through there!
Secondly, for those of you who know the Bowmen, the gravel parking lot will be reserved for Handicapped and Emergency vehicles only. All other parking will be on the right side of the road leading to the gravel lot. There will be parking staff and signs to guide you.
We will have a Certified First Responder on site, and an air-conditioned camper, for those who may succumb to the heat. There will be several stations throughout the range set up with water dispensers. Please try to being your own drinking vessels, as plastics cups can blow away very easily!
Hope to see many of you next weekend! And thanks for reading this email all the way through!
YIS,
