Sorry I didn't explain about how this would affect SCA people as I thought
the implications would be obvious. However I should have listed the items
in the first email to make it obvious that I am concerned about the wide
variety of negative impacts on SCA activities and not making generic
requests for preserving US freedoms. Extended NAIS regulations including,
the chipping, constant monitoring of the movement of any animal, added costs
of chipping and monitoring, etc. could affect:
Sheep to shawl demos
Sheep to shawl contests
Participants in any other competitions involving animal products
Wool spinners and weavers
Anyone who sews with or wears wool
Embroiders who use wool thread such as those working on Bayeux Tapestry
projects
Anyone who makes items from leather or wears leather (shoes, belts, purses,
pouches, quivers, bags)
Scribes who use quills
People who make or use items which are filled with down or feathers
(clothing, covers, mattresses, pillows)
Illuminators or other painters who use egg or milk based paints
People who raise animals for A&S projects, preserve heirloom breeds, or
raise animals to keep feast costs down.
Artesianal cheesemakers
Equestrian activities
Psyanky makers (decorative egg dyers)
Feast planners and cooks who must serve less food or less desirable food due
to the increased costs of meat, cheese, and eggs
Feast eaters whose feast experience is reduced due to access and cost
restraints
People who can no longer afford to eat feast because the new price is now
out of their budget
Anyone who must spend extra time and money dealing with paper work and
intrusive surveillance of their property and belongings
Any Event Autocrat who now needs a position to make sure all NAIS
requirements are met for all relevant activities and can't utilize that SCA
volunteer in a more productive manner.
Any SCA merchants who utilize the items in their products
