Greetings!

Thank you for your question. I will take the to
opportunity to "sum up".

The fabric qualifies because you have the receipt. Age
does not matter. Just the proof of the cost to you.
Sales tax or shipping and handling will not be
included. If you use 15 yards of $2.00 a yard fabric
and trim, then your outfit would not meet the "Under
$25.00" requirement.

Gifted or "free" fabric does not qualify because there
is no way to verify the value of the fabric except
that it was "free" or that my "aunt meltilda" gave it
to me.

Materials recycled from old garb is fine. Try to
include a picture of the old garb in your
documentation.

At the time of judging we would look at your
documentation and figure if you were under the 25.00
based on your yardage estimate in the outfit to verify
if you made the outfit for under 25.00.

The fabric itself does not matter except that it LOOKS
period appropriate for the outfit you are making,
hense the documentation needed for your outfit. You
have to tell us that this fabric LOOKS like a fabric
or color that was used in period.

For example:
An Elizabethan gown made with a byzantine brocade
wouldn't pass muster just because the fabric cost you
50 cents a yard and you wanted to make an Elizabethan.

Documentation for your outfit WILL COUNT. We are
looking to see what you know about the garb you made
and why your budget fabric works.

The skill I am encouraging with this competition is
quality period garb on a shoe string.

Martelle,
who gets more evil by the day.
(Just wait for the All Things Marshall competition I
have planned.)
