Outpost Noiregarde of the Kingdom of Northshield is holding an auction to
raise money for the Outpost account.  The auction will begin on Monday,
February 27, 2006 at noon MT and will end on Monday, March 27, 2006 at Noon
MT.

The auction is for a single leaf from The Arte of Warre, written first
in Italian by Nicholas Machiavelli and set for the English by Peter
Whitehorne, from the 1588 edition printed in London.  This is a single
page from the book, not the entire book.  It is page #31 to be
precise.  An Outpost member has donated the leaf specifically for this
purpose.  The actual size of the page is 4"X 6".

Here is a chance to own a piece of History.  This leaf is being auctioned
specifically to SCA players and those who follow The Dream.  You do not have
to hold an actual SCA membership card to bid in the auction.  This is not an
ebay auction.  This is not a Yahoo auction.

A special email account has been opened for this
purpose and a new Yahoo group has been started so that anyone can view the
daily high bid.  You may bid as often as you like.  You may bid as much as
you like.  The highest bid for the day will be posted but not the individual
names of those who are bidding.  No
personal information will be disclosed on the list except the SCA name and
Shire /Barony/Kingdom of the actual winner of the Auction at its end.  At
the end of the Auction a list of Bidders and the Dates
and Amount of their bids will be available to any and all who
participate and who wish to have the details.  The emails will be kept for 6
months should any conflict arise.  There are pictures of the leaf on the
list site.

The opening bid will be $24.00 US funds.  Bidding will be made in .25
amounts.  No bids lower than $24.00 US will be accepted. (There will be no
bids accepted that do not end in either whole dollar or quarter dollar
amounts.  Example = 24.50 would be an acceptable amount;  24.01 would not,
and neither would 24.76.  Bids must end with either .00 or .25 or .50 or .75
in the cent column after the dollar amount.

To post a bid for the leaf send your SCA name, Your Legal Name, Your
complete address, Your phone number, Your Shire/Barony (etc.) and
Kingdom, and the amount of your bid to:

No bids will be accepted without this information.  An email will be
sent to acknowledge that your bid was received and for the amount.  No new
bids will be accepted after March 27, 2006 at 12 Noon MT.

Your bid is your bond.  If you submit a bid you must be willing to come up
with the amount that you bid.  There will be
no charge for shipping and handling and insurance.  The leaf will be
mailed or given when the money is in the Outpost's account.  In the
case of checks and money orders, when they clear the account.  If there is a
tie in High bids, the winners will be notified and will be given a one day,
sudden death auction with the bidding to begin at the amount of the high tie
bid.  The winner will be expected to remunerate funds within 14 days of the
close of the auction to the Outpost's Exchequer.  An email will be sent to
the Winner of the auction within 48 hours of the close of the auction with
the information for payment.  In the case of a non-paying winner, the leaf
will be offered to the next highest bidder for the amount of their bid.

All funds will go to the account of Outpost Noiregarde
save for what funds will be used in shipping, handling, and
insurance of the leaf to the winner of the auction.
