Imagine our dread as we returned to Ymir site Sunday morning to take down
our soggy pavilion in the mud and try to pack it without bringing home too
much of the landscape itself. :-(
But when we drove down to the Tourney field, our pavilion was already down.
Oh dear, who dropped it, how much mud would be on the walls and top, And how
much of the week would it take me to try and remove it? :-(
And then we saw Mistress Emma, Sir Damon, his new squire, young Cuan, and
various strong young men *carrying* canvas to the grassy hill next to the
tennis courts, spreading them out and expertly folding and packing them.
:-)
It was all I could do to keep from bursting out crying at the relief. :-D
Our stuff was packed, stacked and mud-free. :-) I owe a great debt of
gratitude to this excellent household for their generosity, strong backs and
strong sense of service. As I looked around the former tourney field, I saw
many similar stacks of stuff, all neat and mud-free. And I noted a growing
legion of canvas carriers, including Lord Gaston and Baron Stephan who were
still working at the end of a long weekend.
These fine people and many like them make playing SCA in Atlantia a joyful
and inspiring activity. Thank you all!
Your grateful friend,
Susanna
