If you do SCA scrolls or portraits at all, you'll want to see "Prayers and 
Portraits: Unfolding Netherlandish Diptych" at the National Gallery of Art 
(West Building). I saw it yesterday and it's AWESOME.

I wanted to buy the $75 book accompanying the exhibition so I could study 
the techniques at home at my leisure but when I looked through the book in 
the museum store, I was surprised that the photography does not show the 
portrait details at all. So, the moral of the story is that you won't get 
out of the book what you will see in person.

The exhibit closes on Feb. 4. Go see it!
