For the wool enthusiasts out there, I just lucked into two lovely,
pretty clean fleeces, black/brown/grey. I need to get them processed
into roving ready to spin. Does anybody know of someplace locally I can
take this to, preferably this week, to get the cleaning/washing/carding
part done? Or at least, started? Conversely, does anybody in the area
know how best to do all these things and have the equipment and
willingness to teach? I have already started to wash part of the first
batch, using excellent directions from the web, but I feel it will take
me till spring just to get it ready to spin, let alone spin it all.
Therefore I'm looking for help. Right now it still has the lanolin on
it, and a few bits of hay and burrs here and there in it. Not that
much, really, but apparently no bugs. I don't really want to keep raw
fleece around too long for fear of attracting something I don't want, so
any help/direction would be appreciated. I have somewhere between 15
and 20 pounds of this stuff.
