The Lady Eli, mka Steph Jones, last night on her way to Scouts with the
boys, had stopped to assist a bicyclist who had been struck by a car, as is
her way. While giving aid she was struck by another car. Collin (her
eldest son) gave her mouth to mouth while another good Samaritan provided
compressions until EMS arrived. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

If you knew Lady Eli, and I'm sure many of you have met her at one time or
another, she was one who led with her heart. Always putting others ahead of
herself, never asking for anything. She will always be remembered as one of
Cathanar's true-life heroes, a dedicated chirurgeon who gave her life in the
performance of her duty to help others. So typical of her.

I know there will be an incredible number of offers for help, right now they
need love and prayers.

Lady Eli's viewing will be Thursday Dec. 14th at the Hillside funeral Home,
4500 USHighway 264, Washington, NC, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

I am told that there will be memory books at the viewing for people to write
down a memorable experience with Eli/Steph. Brandon/David feels this will be
a great way to remember Eli, through the eyes of others .

The funeral service will be on Friday Dec. 15th at 4:00 PM, at the First
United Methodist Church, 304 West 2nd St., Washington, NC.

The family requests that no flowers be sent!

Any donations should be to either Boy Scout Troop 99, in care of The First
United Methodist Church, same address as above, or to the Beaufort County
Humane Society, P.O. Box 8, Washington, NC 27889.

It is appropriate to send cards only to the family's home: c/o David Jones
and Family, 302 Ridgwood Lane, Washington, NC, 27889.

Rycharde Muir
Deputy Senaschal, Shire of Cathanar
